ABOUT THE SHOWS

THE SHARK IS BROKEN
Directetd by Luke Rahmsdorff-Terry
The first summer blockbuster is being filmed – but no one working on the film would know it! Dive into the choppy (and hilarious) waters of making a major motion picture with feuding co-stars, unpredictable weather and a shark prop that is constantly breaking down. Movie stars Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss take center stage and they bond, drink, gamble and pray for “Bruce” to start working again!

Performances: January 9th - February 15th
Rehearsals: Begin Dec 1st and will be Mon through Thurs annd some Saturdays.  There will be breaks for Holidays.

Shark Note: This production contains adult language, themes of alcoholism, drug use and depression.

ROLES (all roles are available)

Robert Shaw - An accomplished and charismatic British actor and writer, he plays the obsessive shark hunter Quint. He likes to stir the pot with Dreyfuss and is a violent drunk.  Like Quint, Shaw has his own obsession: mastering the famous USS Indianapolis monologue.

Richard Dreyfuss - The charming up and coming actor who plays rich kid turned shark expert Matt Hooper. Egotistical to fault, his attitude and swagger mask deeply felt insecurities and neurotic tendencies.  Like Hooper, Dreyfuss feels a need to prove himself, even if he won't fully admit it.  Please note, there is a scene involving a severe panic attack.

Roy Scheider - A well respected and level-headed actor who plays Amity Island Police Chief Martin Brody. The most reserved and pragmatic of the trio, he tends to be a mediator between Shaw and Dreyfuss.  Like Brody, Scheider tries to do the right thing, which is keep things afloat during a troubled production. (NOTE: As Scheider was an avid fitness and tanning enthusiast, this character will be asked to wear a speedo during one scene.)

ANGELS IN AMERICA, PARTS ONE AND TWO
Directed by Bernie Cardell (Part I) and Troy Lakey (Part II)

Considered by many to be the greatest play of the last 40 years, this Pulitzer Prize, Tony & Emmy award-winning masterpiece is set in 1980s New York City at the devastating height of the AIDS epidemic. Masterfully exploring love, sex, religion, family, and politics in Reagan-era America, Angels in America is “the most ambitious American play of our time, an epic that ranges from earth to Heaven...” (Newsweek).

Performances: March 27 - May 10
Rehearsals: Some rehearsals in early December and then full rehearsals will begin January 4th.

NOTE: This production of Angels in America will include an intimacy coordinator to support actors in scenes involving nudity or sexual content.

ROLES (all roles are available.  All actors play several roles.)

Note: This production contains adult themes, sexual content, intimacy, and varying levels of nudity.

Prior Walter (male presenting) A witty, flamboyant gay man diagnosed with AIDS. He experiences visions and becomes a reluctant prophet. Requires emotional vulnerability, comfortability in drag makeup, physicality of AIDS impacting body, and intimate scenes. Partial nudity is required.

Joe Pitt (male presenting) A closeted Mormon lawyer struggling with his sexuality and conservative values. Involves romantic and intimate scenes with both male and female characters. Partial nudity is required.

Harper Pitt (female presenting) Joe’s agoraphobic, Valium-addicted wife. She hallucinates and escapes into fantasy. Explores themes of addiction, mental illness, and dissociation. Requires vulnerability and emotional intensity. Partial nudity may be required.

Roy Cohn (male presenting) A powerful, manipulative attorney. Older Jewish man who is closeted and dying of AIDS. Physicality of impact of AIDS on body. Vulgar, aggressive, and emotionally intense.

Belize (male or non-binary presenting) A Black gay nurse and former drag queen. Fierce, compassionate, and grounded. Shares intimate and confrontational scenes, especially with Roy and Prior.

The Angel (fluid identity) A majestic, otherworldly being who visits Prior. Requires physicality and stylized movement and comfortability with biblical like language

Hannah Pitt – (female presenting) Joe’s devout Mormon mother. Conservative but undergoes significant transformation throughout the play.
