ABOUT THE SHOW: A two-act revival of Harvey Fierstein’s award-winning Torch Song Trilogy – the life of Arnold Beckoff, a torch song-singing drag queen living in New York City, is dramatized over the span of the late 70s and 80s. Told with a likable, human voice, Torch Song follows Arnold’s odyssey to find happiness in New York. All he wants is a husband, a child, and a pair of bunny slippers that fit, but a visit from his overbearing mother reminds him that he needs one thing more: respect.
PAY: All actors will receive a $100 travel stipend as well as $40 per performance.
WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare a 1- to 2-minute modern comedic monologue. Please sign up for one of the one-hour timeslots. People will be seen in the order they arrive the day of auditions. You will not need to stay the entire hour you are signed up for.

ROLES AVAILABLE (all roles are available. actors must be at least 18 to audition.)
ARNOLD: 20s-30s, not older than 35. Male or non-binary, Jewish, any race, drag performing experience helpful. He’s a young person in love, with a smart sense of humor. There’s a New York intensity about him, yet his sensitive inner child is just below the surface.
ED: 35-40, male, any race or ethnicity. Handsome, classically masculine with a boyish charm. He’s exploring his sexuality, though probably identifies as bisexual. Can be disarming and knows how to use it.
LAUREL: 35, female, any race or ethnicity, smart, funny, and very open-minded and curious. Partner to Ed.
ALAN: 18, male, any race or ethnicity, shamefully beautiful, a frightened child in a sex worker’s clothing
DAVID: 15 going on 30, male presenting, could be trans or non-binary, wonderful and bright kid that ARNOLD is helping find footing.
MRS. BECKOFF (MA): 60-ish, female, Arnold’s real Jewish mother. A fighter. An Ethel Merman kind of energy.
