MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Vintage Theatre is to create genuine connection and strengthen our community by telling engaging and timeless stories.
When communities are connected and supported, they are energized to build a healthy and abundant society. When a growing number of people in our community are feeling isolated and untethered, fostering meaningful connections is more important than ever. Through the stories we tell and the events we create, we aim to build bridges and explore ideas with our audiences. By fostering a thriving arts scene in our neighborhood, we elevate the quality of life, attract vibrant crowds, and drive local revenue.
At Vintage Theatre, audiences come together to experience the transcendent power of live performance, finding inspiration and joy in shared storytelling. Through shared experiences, we serve as a bridge between individuals and the community, creating a deeper sense of belonging and connection.
HISTORY
Vintage Theatre was founded in 2001 by Craig Bond, Debbie Laureta, Chris Goranson, Lindsay Sanders Goranson and David Trimble with the mission of presenting classic and cutting-edge live theater that challenges, delights, and entertains our audiences. The co-founders established the following guiding principles for the company:
to allow any actor the chance to be cast in any production,
to successfully mount large and challenging productions with limited resources on smaller-sized stages,
and to present diverse work in intimate settings so that patrons can experience the themes of that work on a more personal level.
Vintage began as a touring company before gaining 501(c)3 status in 2006. We produced theatre at our 17th Avenue location in 2008 and remained there for four years as we grew our company artistically. In March 2012, we relocated to our new location at 1468 Dayton Street, joining the Aurora Arts Cultural District. We have since become an anchor organization within the district, serving as a destination place for visitors and a host site for other art organizations.
Vintage Theatre produces 9-10 main-stage productions each year, approximately 30 cabaret performances, several touring shows for youth and adults, in-school productions of theatre for young audiences, and a youth theatre camp in the summer. We produce blockbuster Broadway favorites on our 133-seat main stage, regional premieres, intimate dramas, and off-beat comedies in our 60-seat black box theatre, and a wide variety of cabaret performances on our cabaret stage. Additionally, we and provide space for local artists and other arts and theatre companies without a home to present their content.
