Introducing Shadiya Lyons

Please introduce yourself! Where might audiences have seen your work before and what can they look forward to next?

My name is Shadiya Lyons (they/them). I was in Cinderella here two years ago but Vintage is like a second home so you'll see me around all the time. This is only my second professional production! My next show after this will be The Nacirema Society at Firehouse!

What is your favorite part of working with this team?

We just have a lot of fun together. I genuinely love and appreciate everyone. Like, my mom obviously, but everyone. It feels like how an ensemble cast should, like we're forming a little family. (And actual family lol)

Have you experienced any discrimination?

Of course I have. I'm an Indigenous Black Latine, nonbinary trans lesbian with disabilities. If I had never experienced any discrimination it would be more surprising. But I don't let ignorant people dictate my emotions or how I live my life. It's exhausting enough without giving them power.
