Abby McInerney as Sally Bowles!
Cabaret
September 15th - October 22nd
Vintage Theatre is proud to present Abby McInerney (she/her) as “Sally Bowles” in Vintage’s upcoming production of “Cabaret”. Of her portrayal of the role, director Bernie Cardell said, “It has been a joy to work with Abby for the first time after watching her fantastic performances in the community for the last several years. She’s kind, professional, uber-talented, and will be able to show off both her singing and acting skills in this role.”
When asked to share her experience with the role and in this production, Ms. McInerney writes, “Words hardly express how truly grateful I am to be playing Sally Bowles. Sally has been the ‘dream/bucket list’ role I have been working towards for many years. In fact, there is a video of myself singing ‘Maybe This Time’ in 2013 at my Alma Mater. So when Bernie called me, I burst into tears and fell to the floor. Dramatic, I know!
“Cabaret to me, is a story about survival but different types. Do you conform or do you hide? Do you get involved or do you run? Each character in this story, in their own way, is trying to survive. Sally has always been a survivor and it shows in how she carries herself. She is beautifully broken. She is forever a showgirl. Playing this woman who lives for performing and to be loved is a feeling I can relate to. There have been times in my life where performing gave me the breath of life my soul needed. It was like my therapy. And for Sally, it’s no different. When she is onstage, she is in charge and the rest of the world just fades away.”
