Meet the Cast of She Kills Monsters: Erica Caruso
Hello! I’m Erica Caruso. You may have seen me recently as Annette Hargrove in Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical at the People’s Building. This is my first show at Vintage and I am thrilled to be joining such a talented and kind cast and crew in putting on this show. She Kills Monsters has been a dream show of mine since I first saw it around 10 years ago. I’m very grateful to Vintage and Insight Colab for the opportunity.
I am playing Vera, Evil Gabbi, and the Beholder. I also have the honor of playing various recognizable Dungeons and Dragons monsters throughout the show. It’s a wild ride and I’m excited to channel so many different characters. There are some iconic monsters that DnD players will recognize. If you’re a DnD fan, definitely keep an eye out for the beholder. Get it?
I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop role playing games, TTRPGs, since I was in elementary school. With the rise of nerd culture over the last 10 years, it has become a lot more acceptable to indulge in these previously “geeky” hobbies. It’s been awesome to see. I’m a huge advocate for how much TTRPGs can benefit kids and adults. You learn skills like teamwork, communication, and problem solving.
As you might guess based on my verbosity, my longest running character is a Bard. That campaign lasted 5 years and only recently ended due to the ultimate final boss: scheduling conflicts. I prefer to play support and focus on the roleplay aspect of the game. In combat, I’m usually running around healing folks and making sure they are able to hit their targets. Out of combat, I like to handle the talking and planning. If there’s a puzzle to solve, I’m on it! Right now I do not play as much as I would like, but to make up for it I have about 500 hours in Baldur’s Gate 3. Whoops!
This cast is incredible. Everyone is so funny and quick-witted. If there’s a joke to be made, someone is on it. I laugh more with this cast than any other I’ve been a part of. It also deepens the moments of sincerity. The joy that we all feel being a part of this show is going to translate into a really amazing performance.
She Kills Monsters is a celebration of the outcasts. It tells the story of Agnes learning about her younger sister, Tilly, by playing a DnD module written before her death. Through the game, Agnes learns about both her sister and herself. It’s a story of grief and love and super awesome sword fights. I hope that regardless of whether or not you are a Dungeons and Dragons fan you will come check it out!
