Meet the Cast of Murder on the Orient Express: Stephanie Saltis
Introduce yourself! Where have audiences seen your work recently and where can they see you next?
I recently was in a TYA directed by the amazing Matt Zambrano called Tomas and the Library Lady. And I am beyond grateful to have joined the Shakespeare in the Parking Lot tour this fall. We have public performances on Saturday!
What is your favorite aspect of your role in the cast?
She’s not just some ingenue but there’s depth and comedy to the countess that I find a lot of fun to get to play with. And she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty and help Poirot investigate the body. She’s a badass.
Who are some of your top fictional detectives/investigators? (from theatre, film, books, tv…) OR What are your top pieces of media where a train plays a central role?
Hardy Boys and the Mystery of Where Babies Come From is a fun one act that’s exciting to read and perform on the stage. Sherlock has also always been a classic favorite of mine. I’ve recently loved the series Enola Holmes and it’s amazing to see a women be the lead detective instead.
Is there a specific line or moment from the play that resonates with you?
“You remind me of my husband” “which one?” “The next one” iconic especially the actor who says it.
You’re playing the board game Clue—what your idea character/weapon/location combo
Unfortunately I have not played the game in years so I can’t remember. But I remember watching the movie version with Tim Curry and I loved that.
Two trains leave the station, one from Paris, one from Delhi, each leaving at the rate of—just kidding! Why should audiences come see Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express at Vintage?
Who doesn’t love a good murder mystery that’ll make you laugh and cry. It’s fun for all, especially for us all backstage!
