Meet the Cast of She Kills Monsters: Bobbie Renee
Introduce yourself: where have audiences seen your work recently and where can they see you next?
Hello! I’m Bobbie Renee and you may have last seen me in Murder on the Orient Express.
What is your role in the cast and what is your favorite part of that role?
I’m playing Lilith Morningstar and a couple of the things that make her so fun to play are her snarkiness and self confidence.
What fantasy characters from literature and media have influenced you and why?
Mannn this is really a tough question because I’ve always loved fantasy and sci-fi. More than one specific character I think it’s just the nature of escapism and wonder that comes with tales of adventure. For Lilith specifically I’m definitely pulling some inspiration from Selene (Kate Beckinsale in Underworld) and Furiosa (Charlize Theron in Mad Max).
Do you have a favorite line or moment from the show?
There are a lot of truly touching lines in this show that pull at my heart but right this moment I’m really resonating with Lillith’s line: “With violence, love. Lots and lots of violence.”
Please share a fond rehearsal memory from this process!
I’m honestly just loving the amount of stage combat we get to do in this show. Caden is doing such an amazing job with teaching choreography and giving motives for each fight. Chrys is also assisting so wonderfully. The emotions and story being told through each sequence is just beautiful. And even though the audience will only get to see the gnashing of teeth and crushing blows, every rehearsal is filled with such playfulness and laughter. Those two things are a big reason why I love the theatre so much.
How would you describe She Kills Monsters to someone who is brand new to the play?
It’s a story of grief and understanding told through the lens of adventure.
Why should audiences come see She Kills Monsters?
To laugh and to cry and hopefully leave with an understanding of something you may not have before.
