What excites you about Young Frankenstein the Musical?

I am so excited to be doing a Mel Brooks’ musical, especially at the Vintage! I grew up with Mel Brooks so this show feels very dear to my heart, and I can’t wait for people to laugh, cry, and scream at this hilarious horror.

What’s your process like in preparing for a show like this, and how does that process change (if at all) from other shows?

The process for this show is unique because the film has such a cult status. I think the sweet spot to my process is paying homage to such a brilliant cinematic masterpiece while making this show and character feel fresh, and unexpected in its own way.

What’s your biggest challenge about taking on this role?

The biggest challenge for me is finding all of the comedic nuance in this part. Freddy has heart, and at the same time, is caught up in a whirlwind of slapstick events. The balance between hilarity and sincerity is a very welcome challenge as a comedic actor.

How did you get started performing?

I’ve been performing since I was elementary school. I caught the bug young, and I feel so blessed to be making a career out of the arts as an adult.

Why do you still perform?

I perform because I believe the performing arts has an incredible impact on our community, and society. Theatre is the ritual of our human narratives, and it’s a joy and a responsibility to be an actor in this lifetime.

What’s your dream role, and what do you feel you would bring to it?

A HUGE dream role is actually another Mel Brooks character: Max Bialystock in The Producers! I think I could bring a lot of chutzpah to the part.

What’s a fun fact people may not know about you?

Some people may not know that I’m a professional Tarot reader and intuitive when I’m not onstage!
